However, at what point a contestant should contribute his block of Forge Points or which prize is most profitable for him to seek are questions we will not attempt to answer. It is not the purpose of this article to discuss in a general way the tactics in a Great Building Contest, but we will say that the tactic being considered here becomes increasingly feasible as the Great Building comes closer to its current leveling goal. Beating an opponent implies that all other opponents with lower Forge Point scores than he has (and who therefore follow him on the Great Building score page) are beaten as well. When that happens, the given opponent is said to be beaten. Lock up happens when a contestant contributes so many Forge Points that too few remain before leveling occurs for a given opponent to surpass the contestant's score.
A tactic that is sometimes used by experienced contestants in the Great Building Contest is to contribute a block of Forge Points large enough to lock up a chosen scoring position, thereby guaranteeing that the contestant eventually wins at least the prize belonging to the chosen scoring position.
